Cylindrical & Tubular Lock Set Installation

(Formerly Hardware Installation)

This module will review the technical specification of residential and commercial door locksets (cylindrical and tubular). Door frames will be presented in detail followed by practical exercise and hardware installation. Included is a discussion and demonstration of the use of power and non-power tools. Workplace safety will be a component of this module. Students will install different types of hardware. There will be new and retrofit installations. Students will be shown how to select a product that meets requirements of the current tasks. The Ontario Building Code and Fire Codes will be referenced as they apply. This program does not require approval under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005.

  • Screwdrivers: ¼” flat slot, #2 & #3 Philips, #2 Robertson
  • Hammer
  • Pencil
  • High Speed Steel Drill Bit Set. Including: 1/8, 5/32, 7/32, 5/16, 3/8, 9/16, 13/64.
  • Hole Saw: 1 ¼” Bi-Metal Hole Saw with Arbor and Pilot Bit
  • Wood Chisels: Various Sizes
