Electrified Strikes

The Electrified Strikes class provides the student with the knowledge required in selecting the proper electric strike based on door hardware and frame type. The student will install various electric strikes on wood, aluminum, and steel frames, as well as complete a basic access system. Most manufactures products are covered in detail. This program does not require approval under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005.


  • Boring jig (with router)
  • Die grinder (with metal cutting blades)

Criminal Record Check NOT Required.

Post Secondary or Equivalent Education NOT Required.

Required Tools

  • Vise grips
  • Try square or combination square.
  • Taps with proper drill size for 8-32NC w/#29 drill, 10-24NC w/#25 drill, 10-32NC w#21 drill, 12- 24N
  • Tap wrench
  • Safety glasses as well as safety boots or shoes are mandatory
  • Safety glasses
  • Round 1/4" x 10" (bastard or 2nd cut)
  • Multimeter (digital preferred)
  • Jig saw (with metal cutting blades)
  • Flat file 10" or 12" (bastard or 2nd cut)
  • Extension cord
  • Electric or cordless drill
  • Drill bits Recommend student have full drill index. (Minimum 1/8, 5/32, 7/32 3/8 and 1/2).
  • Centre punch
  • Basic hand tools, (slot, Philips, Robertson) screw drivers, hammer, Allen/hex head key set (fraction
  • at least 6 course and 6 fine jigsaw blades
  • 1/4 - 20 tap
